CHILD AND ADOLESCENT COUNSELING
Adults aren’t the only ones who can benefit from counseling. Frequently young children and adolescents need the support of counseling. Child and adolescent counseling provides a safe and supportive place where they can share and explore their thoughts and feelings. Here they practice new ways to resolve issues found at home, school, and in other social environments. They learn new ways to solve problems.
Some common social and school issues addressed are difficulty dealing with peers, social isolation, poor homework or study skills, poor self image, substance abuse, risky behaviors, sibling rivalry, poor self control, ADHD, and Asperger characteristics. Counseling is also beneficial in helping children and teens better manage the stress that comes with major transitions like divorce, relocation, or serious illness. If your child or teen has anger or aggression issues, misbehavior,, depression or anxiety, a trauma/abuse history, or unusual changes in their behavior, considering having them participate in counseling.
