PARENT COACHING

In the days gone by, parents were supported and taught how to parent with the help of extended families. Many parents today live very fast paced lives and are isolated from extended families. Parenting becomes a very challenging job without a solid reference point of what to do and how to do it and with little to no hands on support from extended families. Parenting coaches can assist parents in establishing a solid sense of what to do and how to create a healthy family life for themselves and their children.

The transition to parenthood and raising children is one that is exciting but often overwhelming. The transition is filled with changing roles and identities. A seemingly constant juggling of the needs of children, work, our personal relationships as well as our own needs leaves us without energy. It is no wonder parents are stressed and wondering where to turn for help.

Do you find yourself frequently frustrated and easily losing your patience with your children? Do you second guess your parenting decisions? Do you feel confused when every book about discipline has conflicting information? Do you feel like you and your partner are on different pages when it comes to discipline? Do you feel like you have no time or energy left to take care of yourself and your relationship with your partner?

At one time or another, every parent answers YES to these questions. Our job is to help in those times when parents feel stuck.

Understanding our roles and where we are headed as parents gives us a framework as to how to make parenting decisions. Parents are intended to lead their children to become responsible, self sufficient, caring adults. It is hard to lead our children if we only think and react to behavior in the moment. We forget where we are headed.

The goal is to raise adults with character who can contribute compassionately to this world. As a parent coach, I will help you address behavior and emotional needs in your children without forgetting where you are headed.

We will build on strengths your family already has and develop strategies to address the challenges you face. Together we will build a plan, assess how it is working, and make changes as needed.
